Service is at the heart of recovery. SFVAA Central Office runs on volunteers — people in recovery giving back to keep the message available to the still-suffering alcoholic. If you're looking for a way to be of service, we'd love to hear from you.
Ways to Serve
12th Step Volunteers
When someone reaches out to Central Office asking for help, a 12th Step volunteer is the person on the other end of the line — or sometimes the one who shows up in person to share their experience. This is direct, face-to-face service work that has carried the message since AA began.

Get In TouchWhy We Serve
The 12th step says we tried to carry the message to alcoholics still suffering. Volunteering at SFVAA is one way to put that into practice. It's also how many of us stay sober — by helping others. If any of the roles above speak to you, reach out.
